League Ladders

At the start of each season, football fans of all ages would scour the magazine shelves at their local newsagents.  When would they be out ?  It's a "must have".  Last season's set is out of date.  It could only be one thing - Shoot's world famous "League Ladders".

The principle was simple.  A card with the requisite number of slits for each division. Cardboard tabs for each club in England & Scotland, club colour coded, and with a bit of stadium info.  All you had to do (apart from not losing any tabs) was to move the teams around after each set of games to reflect the updated League tables.  

Typically all the component parts were supplied over three successive issues of Shoot, usually beginning at the end of August or start of September. The main board was supplied first, together with the push out tabs for the First Division and top two divisions in Scotland.  The tabs for the Second Divisions in both England & Scotland would arrive with the following week's issue, while the last set of tabs for the Third & Fourth Divisions would be tucked away inside the third successive copy.

League Ladders in unused condition are now scarce and much sought after. During inspection of recent fresh batch of Shoot magazines, we were pleased to note that some of the early autumn issues seemed somewhat thicker and sturdier than they would if they were just the magazine on its own. On closer examination the relevant League Ladder components were present, and more importantly, the three successive issues with all the necessary bits & pieces were available, everything perfect and in original condition.

Collectors now have the opportunity to obtain some full sets of Shoot League Ladders in perfect, unused condition.  These will be supplied as you would have found them in the shops over forty years ago, the magazine with the correct component part tucked away neatly in the middle pages.
